PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need of a long pipe joint connecting a pump to a reverse flow prevention device while suppressing the lowering of the lift performance of the pump. SOLUTION: This pump unit 1 comprises the pump 10 and a check valve unit 20 preventing the reverse flow of the pump 10. The check valve unit 20 is connected between the flange 15 of a pump casing 13 and a mating flange 17. The check valve unit 20 comprises a roughly cylindrical valve box 21, an inner tube 25 coaxially installed in the valve box 21, a valve element 22 formed of a cover-like material covering the top end opening of the inner tube 25, and a support member 23 openably supporting the valve element 22 so that the valve element is positioned parallel with the flow direction of water when the valve element is opened.
