The invention relates to an arrangement and to a method for safeguarding data in a measuring device or a data processing device, used to avoid loss of data or data changes when the device is switched off. A relay is switched in a parallel manner to the on/off switch, and the control circuit is maintained in the closed position by a mains adapter even when the device is switched off. It is not only after the data has been safeguarded and the operational system has been switched off that said control circuit is interrupted and that the device is actually switched off.
