PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell culture scaffold inducing cells into a specific shape and readily culturing the cells of different species in a controlled state while being mixed and to provide a method for cell culture using the cell culture scaffold.

SOLUTION: The cell culture scaffold 1 is provided with a biocompatible thin-film layer composed of a biocompatible material formed by a vapor-phase method such as a laser ablation method and having biocompatibility on the surface of a substrate.
