PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a display driving method which are applicable to electronic paper and employ a reflection type display system capable of realizing bright color display while realizing relatively fast image display. SOLUTION: Pixel cells PEC constituting a display panel 10A each comprises: an upper substrate 11 and a lower substrate 12 which are arranged opposite each other; a pixel space SC formed of a partition 13 and a color filter wall 14 of the same color; a triangular prism 15 projecting from a back side of the upper substrate 11; a transparent electrode 16a laminated in close contact with a slope of the triangular prism 15; a counter electrode 17a which is formed on a visual field side of the lower substrate 12 to face the triangular prism 15; and black charged particles PLB charged in the pixel space SC, and an electric field having a specified polarity is formed in the pixel space SC according to a signal voltage applied between the transparent electrode 16a and counter electrode 17a.
