PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method using a lathe, used for an electrophotographic photoreceptor, and inexpensively providing a cylindrical body having high uniformity of an outer diameter. SOLUTION: This cutting method cuts an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body by using the lathe having a cutting tool, and cuts the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body by adjusting at least one of the temperature of an abutting part between the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body and the cutting tool when starting cutting and the temperature of an abutting part between the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body and the cutting tool when starting the cutting.
