摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrode material capable of obtaining high-speed machinability in the field of the electric discharge machining performed by using a copper electrode excellent in an electric conductivity and machinability. SOLUTION: The electric discharge machining is performed by using the copper having oxygen content of 0.05 to 0.3% as the electrode for electric discharge machining, and by generating electric discharge at the gap between the electrode and opposed workpiece to be machined. In a wire electric discharge machining device where the machining is performed by generating the electric discharging between the electrode and the opposed workpiece to be machined, a wire heating oxidization mechanism which coats oxidized film on the surface of the wire electrode by heating the wire electrode in the air or the oxygen atmosphere is provided on the wire traveling route at the upstream of the electric discharge machining point.
