A back-illuminated imaging device comprises a conversion layer (23), a charge collecting part (24), and suppressing regions (23, 29). The conversion layer (23) is provided for each of pixels constituting a two-dimensional array on the side of an illuminated surface (102) on which radiation is incident. The conversion layer (23) converts the incident radiation into signal charge. The charge collecting part (24) extends from the conversion layer (23) toward the front side (22) opposite to the incident surface (8) so as to collect the signal charge produced in the conversion layer (23). The suppressing regions (23, 29) are arranged between the conversion layer (23) and a peripheral circuit (26) so as to suppress the flow of the signal charge from the conversion layer (21) into the peripheral circuit (26).
