PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing device which can easily provide a user with program related information and related information on broadcast contents such as more detailed information. SOLUTION: A keyword information extraction part 12, by operation of an application program executed on a cell-phone 3, makes a user viewing a television designate desired broadcast contents. Then, from a broadcast contents information database 11, based on the designated broadcast contents, sentence information by EPG (electronic program guide) and word information by meta data, as a keyword group, are extracted. Then, a keyword generation part 13, from the extracted keyword group, extracts, as a keyword for retrieval, a term having such an important meaning as to represent, for instance, a primary theme or a definition. Then, a related information retrieval part 17 uses the keyword for retrieval generated by the keyword generation part 13 to search an information server 4 for related information.
