PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage material and a manufacturing method of the same capable of suppressing the generation of hydrocarbons when hydrogen is discharged therefrom. SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage material substantially comprises a hydrogenated carbonaceous material hydrogenated by allowing the carbonaceous material to be covalent bonded or not to be covalent bonded and a metal hydride, and is capable of obtaining high-purity hydrogen not substantially containing the hydrocarbons by heating the same material at a predetermined temperature.
