<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generating device capable of surely obtaining the rotational frequency of a generator, in which generated output to current driving force becomes maximum, without using a measuring device for measuring driving force even if the driving force (for example, an amount of water and a fall in the case of a water-mill) contributing to power generation fluctuates in the generating device in which power is generated by changing the rotational frequency of the generator by giving a frequency command to the generator. <P>SOLUTION: The generating device is composed of the generator 3, which generates power by being rotated by the driving force 1 contributing to power generation, and a power generation controller 4 which generates power by controlling the rotational frequency of the generator 3. The power generation controller 4 is provided with a power calculator 8 for calculating a power amount outputted by the generator 3 or a power measuring device for measuring a power amount outputted by the generator 3, a frequency commander 9, which decides and commands the frequency for changing the rotational frequency of the generator 3 by comparing a power value obtained by calculation or measurement with the last power value, and a frequency generator 10 for generating the frequency of a frequency command value from the frequency commander 9.
