The drive for a vehicle's seat adjuster has a manually pivotable drive lever deflectable from a neutral position in order to create a directed rotational movement of a drive element after engagement of an element (35) in a drive wheel. At least one translationally movable sliding element is provided as the engaging element. The sliding element is guided in the radial direction of the drive wheel and during engagement meshes with it. An independent claim is included for a seat in a vehicle equipped with the aforesaid height adjuster which has the specified drive.
