A method and a device for servo-controlling a reproduction position without reducing the recording capacity of a holographic recording medium. When data is reproduced from a holographic recording medium (18), part of a reproduction light is applied as a servo light to the recording layer (18A) of the holographic recording medium (18) from the opposite side to the reproduction light (reference light) on the same optical axis as that of the reproduction light, and its diffraction light is detected by a photodetector (26C) via a polymerization beam splitter (26B).
