PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE CRYSTAL

A process by which a biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate is easily obtained through solvent extraction. The process, which is for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate crystals, is characterized in that a C4-10 monohydric alcohol is used as an extraction solvent and that a polyhydroxyalkanoate solution containing water in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt.% based on the total amount of the solution is kept at a temperature not lower than 70°C and then cooled to a temperature lower than 70°C to thereby precipitate crystals of the polyhydroxyalkanoate.
