The NOx storage catalyst (11), to clean the exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe (10) from an internal combustion motor (1), has a NOx sensor (14) downstream of the catalyst. The sensor signals are passed to the motor control (20), representing the desorption phase of the NOx and the ammonia (NH 3) escape phase, to register the end of regeneration as a point in time on the desorption phase curve.
