The present invention relates to an abrasive article for cleaning purposes, which comprises a spongy body of cellulose having in a first surface a coat of abrasive polymeric emulsion, said coat providing home and industry surfaces with abrasive and muck removal characteristics. The invention embodies any geometrical form and offers the user the flexibility required to clean any corner in an easy manner, as well as the benefit of having an article with a double performance: abrasiveness in the first surface and absorption in the second surface; nowadays said benefit is obtained by means of using two different articles that are currently available on the market. The disclosure further offers the user a fabric which is tear and wear resistant in a substantial manner, the aforementioned characteristics are enhanced by the application of a polymeric adhesive in the first surface thereof. Moreover, the invention refers to the application process of said polymeric adhesive on the cellulose s tructure.
