<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment apparatus which can easily and efficiently apply desired surface treatment to a variety of recording media, and an image recording apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: This surface treatment apparatus comprises at least the recording medium wherein at least a thermal foamed layer and an image recording layer are provided on a substrate in this order, and a thermal energy imparting means for imparting thermal energy to the recording medium. The surface treatment apparatus forms a surface property on the recording medium. Preferably, the thermal energy imparting means is one of a heating element and a laser light irradiation device, the surface property is one selected from mat, semi-mat, emboss and luster, and at least part of the surface property of the recording medium can be changed. The image recording apparatus comprises an image recording means for recording an image on the recording medium, and a surface treatment means for applying the surface treatment onto the recording medium whereon the image is recorded by the image recording means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
