The device has an antenna (4) carried by lateral surface of a vehicle wheel rim that acts as capacitive mass. The antenna is circular forming a semi-closed loop around the rim. A case (5) has a unit for connecting tire temperature sensor and pressure sensor and an inflation/deflation valve (8). The case acting as a transmitter communicates with a receiver (20), connected to an interface (21), via the antenna. The interface is disposed in the cab interior of the vehicle and allows a driver to read data from the sensors and to control the valve. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle wheel inflation/deflation system comprising a data transmission device.
