PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation granulation treatment apparatus which shortens a period of time for cooling a degraded alloy powder after hydrogenating treatment to increase the productivity, saves labor for the operation, secures security, consumes little amount of an inert gas, is compact as a whole and requires easy maintenance; and a method therefor. SOLUTION: The method for hydrogenation-granulating a rare earth magnet alloy comprises charging the rare earth magnet alloy into a reaction vessel provided with a heater on the outside and a cooling unit of a triple-tube type consisting of an outer pipe having a large diameter, a middle pipe having a middle diameter and an inner pipe having a small diameter in the inside; filling hydrogen gas into the reaction vessel to hydrogenate the alloy; subsequently performing dehydrogenation treatment of exhausting generated hydrogen gas while heating the inside of the reaction vessel with an outside heater and keeping it in the state; then evacuating an annular space between the outer pipe and the middle pipe of the cooling unit; passing a cooling medium in the annular gap between the inner pipe and the middle pipe in the above state to lower a temperature of the middle pipe; and then introducing a cooling gas into the annular space to increase a cooling power and to cool the degraded alloy powder in the outside of the outer pipe in the reaction vessel.
