An image pick-up apparatus is provided to reduce the number of components and the cost of production by manufacturing a filter with film materials or sheet materials so as to simplify structure of a mechanism for inserting and separating the filter. An image pick-up apparatus includes a mechanism which locates a filter(b) on an optical axis of an image pick-up optical system so that the filter can be inserted and separated. The filter is formed by film materials and sheet materials. An infrared ray cut filter(12) is provided as the filter. A mechanism switches photographing at the first state and low-illumination photographing at the second state to each other, wherein the infrared ray cut filter is located on the optical axis thereof at the first state and not located thereon at the second state.
