PURPOSE: A photonic band gap optical fiber is provided to transfer a plurality of lights having different bands by forming different transfer modes in plural band gaps. CONSTITUTION: A first medium(73) has a first dielectric coefficient. A plurality of second mediums(75) have a second dielectric coefficient, and are arranged at a first period in at least one direction on the plane formed by the first medium. A photonic crystal has a third dielectric coefficient and is arranged at a second period in at least one direction on the plane formed by the first medium. The photonic crystal includes a plurality of third dielectrics, which are arranged at a third period in at least one direction with the second medium, and forms a plurality of band gaps. A cavity(79) is formed on the photonic crystal to transfer a light in a direction penetrating the plane formed by the first medium.
