PURPOSE: A monitoring system, an information processing apparatus and method, a recording medium and a program are provided to present an event a user desires and provide a sufficient quantity of information to the user with a small quantity of power. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring system includes the first sensor for outputting the first data obtained by monitoring a monitoring region, the second sensor for outputting the second data obtained by monitoring the monitoring region, the third sensor for sensing the third data obtained by monitoring the monitoring region, the fourth sensor for sensing the fourth data obtained by monitoring the monitoring region, and the first event detector for detecting generation of the first event in response to a variation in the monitoring region and characteristic of the first event according to the first data. The monitoring system further includes the second event detector for detecting generation of the second event in response to a variation in the monitoring region and characteristic of the second event according to the second data, a notification controller(73) for controlling notification of the first and second events according to data representing the characteristic of the first event and data representing the characteristic of the second event, and a presentation controller(74) for controlling presentation of the third data with respect to the first event and the fourth data with respect to the second event.
