A heart-slowing drug containing a short-acting beta blocker (for example, landiolol hydrochloride or esmolol hydrochloride) as the active ingredient and being excellent in controlling heartbeat in diagnostic imaging. Such a short-acting beta blocker has an effect of slowing heartbeat and thus can tentatively prevent rapid heartbeat during diagnosis. The heartbeat controlling period can be precisely regulated depending on the dose and the administration method. Also, an auxiliary agent for diagnostic imaging which contains a short-acting beta blocker as the active ingredient is provided.
