PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide five new steady polymorphic crystals of donepezil hydrochloride (1-benzyl-4-[(5,6-dimethoxy-1-indanon)-2-yl]methylpiperidine hydrochloride) having excellent medical action, and an industrial manufacture method thereof. SOLUTION: The polymorphic crystals of donepezil hydrochloride (I)-(IV) and (V) represented by the chemical formula characterized in a powder X-ray diffraction pattern and an infrared absorption spectrum have excellent thermal stability and low hygroscopicity.
