PURPOSE: A cover for protecting a stepping board is provided to extend the life span of the moving walkway or the escalator by covering the footboard and the riser and protecting the cleat with the cover, and to prevent wrong operation of the moving walkway by restricting infiltration of foreign matters. CONSTITUTION: A moving walkway is composed of a footboard(120) having a cleat(140), skirt guards(160) installed at both sides of the footboard, and an entrance(180). A body(10) of a stepping board protecting cover is installed to prevent breakage of the stepping board of the moving walkway, and composed of an assembling groove extended corresponding to the cleat of the footboard. The stepping board protecting cover is composed of the first planar body having the assembling groove for placing the body in the footboard securely, and the second body bending from the end of the first body and having the curved surface corresponding to the riser.
