PURPOSE: A peer-to-peer communication system is provided so that terminal units inside and outside a private network can directly access each other and perform data transmission, suppressing the loads of an intermediary system and the whole network. CONSTITUTION: A private network terminal unit transmits an intermediation request to an intermediary system for peer-to-peer communication with a global network terminal unit(S1), and receives a grant notification from the intermediary system(S2). The global network terminal unit accesses the intermediary system and transmits a connection request to the intermediary system(S3). The intermediary system transmits the connection request to the private network terminal unit, and intermediates between the private network terminal unit and the global network terminal unit(S4). At this moment, the private network terminal unit initiates a new connection by a direction connection toward the global network terminal unit. Then the private network terminal unit transmits a replacement request to the global network terminal unit in order to replace the connection established through the intermediation of the intermediary system with the direct connection(S5).
