A method for use in allowing a remote administrator connected to a serv er through a communications link to grant or deny access of a server resource t o a client. A first step involves receiving an electronic request from a client to access a restricted resource on a server. A second step involves establishin g communication with a remote administrator through a communications link. A third step involves receiving commands from the remote administrator via the communications link, interpreting the commands, and granting or denying the client access to the restricted resource based upon such commands.
