The method for performing the route area update of the UE with the MBMS service in communication system is provided. This invention solves the problems existing in the conventional technology by the signaling interactions between the New U-GGSN and the Old SGSN/New SGSN as well as those between the M-GGSN and the Old SGSN/New SGSN. The UE can continue to use the MBMS service after entering the new RA. The SGSN not supporting the MBMS can also provide the MBMS service to the UE indirectly. The U-GGSN can provide the MBMS service to the UE in point-to-point PS mode. Thus, the MBMS Contexts in the UE, the SGSN and the GGSN are kept consistent.
