PURPOSE:To easily detect the concn. of gas by providing a catalyst layer to a passage of a measuring org. gas, providing oxygen sensors to the stages before and after the catalyst layer and measuring the output difference. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst layer 2 is provided to the passage of the measuring gas. The oxygen sensor 1 is provided to the stage before said layer and the oxygen sensor 3 to the stage after the same. Zirconium oxide and titanium oxide are used as the oxygen sensors 1, 3 and measurement is made at 700 deg.C from an ordinary temp. The outputs are measured by the oxygen sensor 1 of the front state and the oxygen sensor 3 of the rear stage. The concn. of the org. gas is detected from the output difference thereof. Platinum used as the electrode on the surface of the oxygen sensor 1 oxidizes a slight amt. of the org. gas as the catalyst and decreases the oxygen molecules migrating to a reference side. The oxygen concn. output is detected by the oxygen sensor 3 of the rear stage. Since the outputs of the oxygen sensors are measured at two points before and after the catalyst in the above-mentioned manner, the concn. of the org. gas is easily measurable. |
