Method for smoothing out deformation of an optical storage medium in which heat is applied to and removed from the medium in order to produce a temperature gradient along the radius of each substrate disk (A, B), with the temperature decreasing from the edge of the disk towards the rotation axis. The invention also relates to a corresponding arrangement for implementation of the inventive method.
