<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump water heater for boiling water within a preset time without enlarging operating sounds even when applying defrosting operation to a heat pump cycle during heating. <P>SOLUTION: The heat pump water heater 1 uses the heat pump cycle for heating a liquid to be supplied and storing the heated liquid in a hot water storage tank 2.
