ELECTRO-OPTIC DEVICE HOUSED IN PACKAGING CASE, PROJECTION DISPLAY DEVICE, AND PACKAGING CASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display higher-quality images and stably operate an electro-optic devices as a whole by preventing the occurrence of significant differences in the characteristics between a plurality of the electro-optic devices constituting a projection display device. SOLUTION: The electro-optic device housed in a packaging case is equipped with the packaging case (601) which consists of a plate (610) and a cover (620) and in which the electro-optic device is housed by holding at least a part of the peripheral region existing on the periphery of the image display region of a liquid crystal panel (500) by at least either of the plate and the cover. The cover is equipped with a cover body (623) and surface area increasing means (622, 624, and 628) for increasing its surface area.
