PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction at the moment of or immediately after mode switching in the information processing apparatus main body, display device and recording medium of an information processing apparatus by making the information processing apparatus main body notify the display apparatus of the mode change before the mode change is performed. SOLUTION: In the information processing apparatus main body 1A, a signal generating part 3A is provided with functions of: sending mode change advance notification information to a display apparatus 2 before changing the display mode of the display screen; and changing the mode after the lapse of time required for interruption of a mode discrimination operation in the display apparatus 2. In the display apparatus 2, a mode discriminating and interrupt determining part is provided with functions of: interrupting the mode discriminating operation in a mode discriminating part 6 and starting time measurement on receiving the mode change advance notification information from the body 1A; and restarting the mode discrimination operation by the mode discriminating part after the lapse of time required for stabilizing synchronous signals after the mode change.
