PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid deviation of an imaging position of original paper of stencil printing caused by rickety phenomenon of a locking mechanism of a printing plate making unit in an apparatus in which the printing plate making unit can be freely drawn out. SOLUTION: The stencil printing apparatus is provided with a platen roll 14, a writing head 15 and a head positioning means 36 for positioning the writing head 15 on the platen roll 14, and has the printing plate making unit 3 which writes a perforation image on the original paper of the stencil printing which makes a carrying passage between the writing head 15 and the platen roll 14, and is provided with the printing plate making unit 3 so as to be freely drawable in an apparatus housing 4. In addition, a platen shaft 31 of the platen roll 14 is freely movable in its shaft direction T in a unit housing 20 of the printing plate making unit 3, and is energized by a compression coil spring 32 in the storing set positional direction t1 of the printing plate making unit 3, and at a storing set position of the printing plate making unit 3, the apex of the platen shaft 31 is brought into contact with a back surface side plate 4b of the apparatus housing 4 under a condition where a spring force of the compression coil spring 32 is received.
