OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE ELEMENT

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide element capable of reducing transmission rounding in wave shape and increasing an electrooptic effect by reducing birefringence of the optical waveguide.

SOLUTION: A Zr/(Zr+Ti) ratio y2of at least a core layer of the optical waveguide consisting of a cladding layer/the core layer/a cladding layer constructed by successively laminating Pb1-xLax(ZryTi1-y)1-x/4O3with respectively different compositions on a substrate is made to satisfy an inequality 0.9y1≤y2≤1.1y1with respect to a Zr/(Zr+Ti) ratio y1in a morphotropic phase boundary composition on a boundary between a trigonal system and a tetragonal system with the La composition ratio x identical to each other.
