PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of the forgery crime of security documents by tightening a connection protective method between an original reading function and an image forming function in the case of forming a color image by reading an arbitrary original and also to prevent a digital color copying machine or the like from being remodeled. SOLUTION: A color image forming apparatus is provided with an original reading part 11 which possesses material identification information and outputs color image information by reading an original, an image forming part 18 that possesses material identification information and forms a color image based on the color image information read by the original reading part 11 and an image controlling part 15 to decide whether or not to connect the original reading part 11 and the image forming part 18 based on a determination result by determining the authenticity of the material identification information by inputting the identification information of the original reading part 11 and that of the image forming part. In the case of deciding that the material identification information of the image forming part 18 corresponding to that of the original reading part 11 is defective, the original reading part 11 and the image forming part 18 are maintained in a communication operation invalid state.
