PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a flexographic printing plate using an ink jet recording. SOLUTION: In this method, first an ink jet printing system is used to spray continuous layers of elastic ink onto a substrate. Before spraying the subsequent layers, each layer is immobilized according to immobilization phases. Thus, printing reliefs are gradually formed to obtain the flexographic printing plate enabling an accurate adjustment for relief and tilting of the printing plate. In order to acquire various layer properties, additional ink or immobilization phases can be used. Ink can be immobilized by using ultraviolet curing. Then, reliefs with layers recorded can be measured and also corrected by using a feed back loop. Recovery process of the printing plate can be designed using the described method. Consequently, an elastic base layer is provided on the substrate to achieve better plate properties. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
