PURPOSE: A method for preparing natural hemicellulose is provided to obtain water-soluble and insoluble hemicellulose from rice husk with a high yield. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of obtaining NDF (neutral detergent-insoluble fiber) from rice husk; extracting the rice husk-derived NDF with 0.5-1 M NaOH solution and filtering it; treating the alkali extraction solution with an acid to precipitate hemicellulose; washing the obtained precipitate and treating it with an oxidizing agent to decolorize it; controlling the pH of solution to separate water-soluble and insoluble hemicellulose from the decolorized hemicellulose fraction, and adding an acid or calcium to the water-soluble hemicellulose to precipitate it and to collect the precipitated hemicellulose; and drying the obtained hemicellulose, milling the dried powder and sieving the milled one to obtain a hemicellulose fine powder.
