PURPOSE: An automatic contents playing method fit to network speed is provided to automatically play the contents fit to a network speed even if contents users are increased or network environment condition is bad, and store/play a file later by automatically executing a reservation program if the network speed is lower than a predetermined network speed. CONSTITUTION: One content is encoded to a high and a low quality file. The two encoded contents are stored in a VOD(Video On Demand) server. When the user selects the contents of a set-top box by using wired/wireless communication, a network speed measuring program is executed. If the network speed over a high quality range is detected, the high quality contents are played. If the network speed of a low quality range is detected, the file is stored by executing a reservation program.
