PURPOSE: A device for diagnosing a mobile communication system and a method therefore are provided to enable a BSM to automatically perform a repeated diagnosis process according to a specific test procedure at a specific time desired by an operator, and to output diagnosed results in desired patterns of the operator, thereby efficiently carrying out a system diagnosis process. CONSTITUTION: A BSM(50) diagnoses an NE(Network Element)(40), and consists of an MMC(Man Machine Command) operator(300) comprising a memory(320) and an automatic diagnosis processor(310). The MMC operator(300) is connected to an operator terminal(100) through a user interface(200), and is connected to an operation/maintenance processor of the NE(40) through a diagnosis target system interface(400). The automatic diagnosis processor(310) inputs many XML(Extensible Markup Language)-type MMCs from the operator terminal(100) to generate MMC groups, automatically repeats a diagnosis operation for the NE(40) according to conditions of the MMC groups, and transmits an automatic diagnosis result message to the operator terminal(100).
