A circuit for limiting peak currents during switching of capacitive and inductive load components has a current limiting device (2) connected in series with at least one load (5.1-5.3) and a switch (3) for bypassing or overriding the current limiting device is connected in parallel with the current limiter. The latter is activated by the switch (3) at the time of switch-on and switch-off of the load, and after the on- or off-switching of the load, is again deactivated.
