PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance control circuit for a light emission type display by which the occurrence of sticking phenomenon is prevented and the performance deterioration of a light emission type element is suppressed.

SOLUTION: This luminance control is provided with a means for generating the frequency distribution of luminance on the basis of an input video signal and calculating the dispersion of the frequency distribution, and a control means for controlling the display luminance of an image displayed on the light emission type display on the basis of the obtained dispersion.
