PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image information processing system capable of switching to another image processing apparatus on the occurrence of an operating fault in an image processing apparatus for managing image readers so as to continue the management of the image readers. SOLUTION: The image readers 14a to 14d inquire of the image processing apparatuses 18a, 18b being management apparatuses particularized by master information stored in a master information storage section 34 about a transmission destination of image information read by an image read section 30 and transmit the image information on the basis of notified transmission destination information. On the other hand, the image readers 14a to 14d use an operating state discrimination switching section 36 to confirm the operating state of the active management apparatus and switches either of the image processing apparatuses 18a, 18b being the management apparatuses to continue the processing when the operation is defective.
