PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the alkali resistance of a Prussian blue comprising a blue pigment which tends to change in color or fade in an alkaline solution, to thereby provide a new surface-treated Prussian blue coated powder having better color forming properties (higher chromaticity) than those of conventional Prussian blue coated powders. SOLUTION: A Prussian blue coated powder is treated with one or both of anα-oxycarboxylic acid and a film-forming substance. In the preferred embodiment, anα-oxycarboxylic acid and a film-forming substance are bonded to or adsorbed on the surface of a Prussian blue coated powder. An example of a base material that can be used for the Prussian blue coated powder is a clay mineral or the like, or a composite material obtained by coating a clay mineral or the like with e.g. a metal oxide.
