PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability, unifying a display form of a operation screen for operating a video signal output device in a video display system, comprising a television set and a video signal output device which outputs video signal to the television set. SOLUTION: In the video display system 1 which includes the television set 3 and a digital tuner device 2 connected to the television set 3, if a user instructs the operation of the digital tuner device 2 to a remote control receiver 33 in the television unit 3, using a remote control device 30, the digital tuner device 2 extracts display item information to be displayed on the operation screen, and outputs to the television unit 3. The television unit 3 produces an operation screen, following the display form determined beforehand based on the received display item information from the digital tuner device 2, and displays on a display part 38.
