<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a driver to safely set the arbitrary target in-lane position of a vehicle within a settable allowable range in an automatic steering unit for making it possible for the vehicle to execute in-lane holding traveling. <P>SOLUTION: An arithmetic part 4 calculates the relative position of a lane detected by a lane detecting part 3 and a vehicle, and when the relative position under a condition that the start of automatic steering control is instructed by a start switch 1 is within a predetermined range in the lane, the relative position is defined as the target in-lane position of its own vehicle, and in the other case, a buzzer 6 is operated so that an alarm sound can be changed according to the distance of the relative position from the predetermined range, and a steering actuator 5 is steering-controlled based on the target in-lane position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
