PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a recording method capable of a halftone reproduction of preferable chromaticness and density regardless of individual difference of a recorder or a recording head and the type of a recording medium. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises a means 101A for storing the driving information of a recording head, or the like, capable of conducting the stabilized halftone reproduction of preferable chromaticness and density in accordance with the type of a recording medium. When recording is performed, appropriate information is fetched from the storage means 101A depending on the type of a recording medium judged by a sheet type judging means 105 and used.
