The internal combustion engine (1) has two banks (3a,b) of cylinders (5), with four cylinders in each bank. Each bank of cylinders has a blowby gas outlet (11) at the front end. There is an additional blowby gas outlet pipe (13) at the flywheel end, extending from a position in the crankcase (2) adjacent to the crankshaft (6) to a box (14) with a shaft (15) and a pipe (16) for returning oil from the valve-gear to the crankcase.
