PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To back-up a disk array system equipped with a network server function and a storage area network function in a path which does not overlap with data other than back-up data easily at high speed without giving a load to a LAN. SOLUTION: When a network file server module 2 receives a back-up request, a back-up file 14 is copied in a back-up volume 12 from ordinary volumes 10 and 11 of the disk array system and, when copying is completed, a copying request to an external storage device 9 is notified to the storage area network module 3.
