PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic detection method of heavy ion beams in a heavy ion treatment method for treating the cancer of the affected part by irradiating the affected part of a partient with heavy ions obtained by ionizing a carbon atom, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In the acoustic detection method of a heavy ion beam is adapted to a heavy ion treatment method for treating the cancer of the affected part 1 by irradiating the affected part with the heavy ion beam from an ion generation source, the probe 2 of an ultrasonic vibrator is brought into contact with the affected part 1 to display the affected part on a display device 3 and the position of an acoustic generation source due to consumed energy generated at the position where heavy ions arrive is displayed on the display device 3.
