PURPOSE: To provide a card socket capable of preventing the erroneous insertion of a card other than the card of a prescribed size in simpler constitution. CONSTITUTION: A card erroneous insertion preventing member 5 is constituted of a fixed part 51, a spring part 52, a connection part 53 and a stopper part 54. The fixed part 51 is fixed to a housing 3. The spring part 52 is connected to the fixed part 51, pushed out from a card track 3c from a card insertion port 3a to the back of a card housing space 3b by the IC card 20 of the thickness of the prescribed size and kept on the card track 3c without being engaged with the IC card 40 of the thickness not reaching the prescribed size. The connection part 53 is connected to a pair of the spring parts 52. A thickness direction stopper part 54 is connected to both end parts of the connection part 53, detached from the card track 3c to allow the entry of the IC card 20 of the thickness of the prescribed size when the spring part 52 is pushed out from the card track 3c and kept on the track of the card to block the entry of the IC card 40 of the thickness not reaching the prescribed size when the spring part 52 is not pushed out from the card track 3c.
